Collection: Self Portraits

My love letter to the world—

I took my self on a 49 day solitude adventure to deep dive into my self. I tried making a self portrait each day to express what I was going through with in this process. I ending up making 35.

I see this as one whole painting. A completion. A realness. It’s about vulnerability as an artist. I believe that vulnerability is extremely important to open up to the world. It’s been incredibly hard for me to do this in my lifetime, and I pushed myself while staring right into the lions eyes. I reframed my whole thinking on how I want to portray my art to the world through this experience by being real, by being myself completely, for myself. Hopefully it will help people allow themselves to become completely real and honest with their vulnerabilities. As I am displayed at the Guggenheim, (ha ha) it has always been a true dream of mine to be displayed as this. I know I’m not there yet, but I am working on becoming that grand. Your dreams can be as big as you want. They can be as fulfilling as you want. Don’t forget who you truly are, don’t let it slide away. My ask of you is… to be completely open and show yourself to the world. It won’t hurt. I promise.

Yours truly,
Jennifer Siani

PS. I hope you enjoyed the ride.
